President Joe Biden has awarded the National Medal of 科学 to Myriam Sarachik (posthumously) 和 Sheldon Weinbaum , two of the most distinguished re搜索ers 和 educators of their generation who, 集体, spent more than a century on faculty at The City College of New York. They were among nine recipients of the medal honored at the White House. To help students with financial challenges stay enrolled, The City College of New York’s Colin Powell School for Civic 和 Global Leadership has, thanks to a generous grant from the Ichigo Foundation , created the position of 金融援助 Adviser 和 First Year Experience Coordinator. CCNY celebrates Latinx/a/o Heritage Month 2023

CCNY Alumnus Alan Levy ‘58 creates scholarship fund in the Division of 科学

Alumnus Alan Levy was the first in his family to graduate in 1958 with a Bachelor of 科学 in chemistry from The City College of New York. The free tuition at the time made pursuing a degree possible, 和 now he wants to pay it forward with a $100,000 gift to create The Alan 和 Sharon Levy Scholarship Fund. The scholarships will support women 和 minority students in CCNY’s Division of 科学 和 will be based on financial need. It will support all education-related expenses. “I was able to obtain a B.S. from CCNY 和 a Ph.D. from Purdue University without incurring any debt,” said Levy.

Brazil 和 CCNY Sign Cooperation Agreement

Support for Portuguese Studies Key Feature of CCNY 和 Brazilian signing agreement

The City College of New York 和 the Consulate of Brazil in New York signed an official cooperation agreement for further supporting 和 promoting Portuguese language 和 Brazilian culture at the college. The Consulate of Brazil has already been a strong financial supporter of conferences, talks 和 cultural events regularly organized by the Minor in Portuguese Language 和 Lusophone Cultures. In 2019, CCNY signed a similar cooperation agreement with the Consulate of Portugal in New York. Portugal renewed their commitment last year.
