Alumnus Alan Levy was the first in his family to graduate in 1958 with a Bachelor of 科学 in chemistry from The City College of New York. The free tuition at the time made pursuing a degree possible, 和 now he wants to pay it forward with a $100,000 gift to create The Alan 和 Sharon Levy Scholarship Fund. The scholarships will support women 和 minority students in CCNY’s Division of 科学 和 will be based on financial need. The City College of New York 和 the Consulate of Brazil in New York signed an official cooperation agreement for further supporting 和 promoting Portuguese language 和 Brazilian culture at the college. The Consulate of Brazil has already been a strong financial supporter of conferences, talks 和 cultural events regularly organized by the Minor in Portuguese Language 和 Lusophone Cultures.
